Professional production at Nottingham Forest Football Club
Nottingham Forest Football Club recently purchased a GY-HM650 camcorder to produce content for their website, TV Channel and YouTube page. The camcorder, supplied by NAV, has already been used to film interviews, training sessions and reserve matches. Over the years, the club has been impressed with the quality JVC cameras; before purchasing the GY-HM650, the club filmed the majority of their footage on a JVC GY-HD200 MiniDV tape video camera and for away games they used a GY-HM100. The ability to record straight on to an SD card with the GY-HM650 has improved capturing time for the club, and with a lot of their work taking place out of the office, the camera's compact size makes it easy to be transported.
Aldo Turner, Nottingham Forest’s website manager, explains, “I really like having the ability to be able to record SD and HD at the same time. Here at Nottingham Forest, most of our recordings are for use online (for our online TV channel, Forest Player), for which HD quality isn't needed. In fact, filming in HD would cause longer rendering times. But we do use HD footage for our stadium big screens and we are looking into whether our yearly season review DVD would benefit from being on sold on BluRay, rather than just DVD.”
At present, post production is done via Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects. The GY-HM650’s native file recording ensures the footage is ready to edit using any software the moment it is shot, resulting in a more efficient workflow and excellent image quality. Aldo comments, “being able to use better equipment certainly helps us produce better looking content.”
